King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla have officially been crowned King & Queen of the United Kingdom after ascending the British throne after his mother’s death, Queen Elizabeth II as of 7:00 PM last night, May 6, 2023 (Philippine Standard Time).

The ceremonies began at 7:00 AM (London time) with a military procession accompanying the crowned royals from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey where the grand coronation ceremony took place. It was then followed by another much grander military parade back to Buckingham Palace where the newly crowned King Charles greeted his people alongside other members of the royal family as the coronation ceremonies concluded with the Royal flypass by the UK airforce.

The Coronation saw many firsts in history as King Charles is the oldest British monarch to be crowned king. It is also the first time that members of the royal family participated in the coronation ceremonies such as Prince George, Second in line to the throne, who participated as one of the pages of honor to the King. Queen Camila’s grandchildren also took part in the ceremonies as pages. This is also the first coronation broadcasted through social media.

In attendance was the Prince of Wales Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton, Duke of Sussex Prince Harry, and the UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Other world leaders in attendance include Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, and Philippine President Bongbong Marcos with First Lady Lisa Araneta-Marcos.
