New York pollution to remain hazardous as it is being shrouded in Canadian wildfire smoke

NEW YORK – On Wednesday, New York was engulfed in an unprecedented, apocalyptic haze caused by smoke emanating from wildfires in Canada. Cities along the U.S. East Coast issued alerts about air pollution, and numerous individuals in Canada were forced to evacuate their residences.

The destructive wildfires in Canada have resulted in over 20,000 individuals displaced and approximately 3.8 million hectares of land ravaged. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau described this wildfire season as the most severe in the country's history.

At least 12 other states have issued air quality warnings that have impacted around 115 million people.

Canada is grappling with over 400 wildfires, leading to mass evacuations in Quebec, which could be the country's worst wildfire season, with 6.7 million acres already scorched.
