Denver clinches first game win at home against Los Angeles

The Denver Nuggets survive the last-minute comeback attempt by the Los Angeles Lakers as they win the first game of the NBA Western Conference Finals, 132 - 126.

Nuggets’ star player, Nikola Jokić dominated as he recorded 8 points, 5 assists, and 12 rebounds in the 1st quarter alone.

Their dominance continued until halftime as they took a commanding lead of 72 - 54.

As the third quarter came around, Jokić, along with his teammate, Jamal Murray, would continue their hot streak, but not without an answer from the Los Angeles Lakers and their center, Anthony Davis, as they outscored the Nuggets 38-34, inching their way into the 18-point lead of the Nuggets.

The Lakers would make a nail-biting comeback attempt late in the fourth quarter, with Austin Reeves scoring 11 of his 23 points all in that quarter, but they eventually fell short with a turnover and free-throws by Jokić to seal the close game and gain a 1-0 lead in the series.

Two players left it all on the floor tonight as Jokić recorded 34 points, 21 rebounds, and 14 assists, while Davis led his team with 40 points and 10 rebounds.
