On February 25, 2023, the 𝗢-𝗭𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁 started with a bang with their free-to-enter convention. A lot of shops were placed around the stage where you can avail merch of famous games and currently trending anime. For sure everyone would be happy, right?
I had the privilege to experience the convention firsthand. But what I didn't expect was how crowded the small space could be. Shops were lined up in this tiny space that almost no one could look at the items being sold because of the ongoing foot traffic jam. The whole thing felt like a conveyor belt that if you paused your walking, everyone behind you would stop and complain. At least this time shops didn't focus on just selling Genshin merch, (but you would still see its merch in every shop) they acknowledged other titles too. There was a variety of merchandise like figures, clothing, posters, mousepads, and other stuff that could clear out your wallet.
Speaking of variety, it was refreshing to meet the cosplayers. It was fun to see characters from Identity V (Bloody Queen), Overwatch (Soldier 67), Fate Grand Order (Saber Faces), One Piece, and many more.
The con also had its own singing contest where people could showcase their talent in singing Japanese. Unfortunately, we had to go before the awarding, but I'm really rooting for the guy who sang Fuyu no Hanashi! I also heard that Nikke was giving away Body Pillows and other merch through a raffle! Whoever won must've used all their luck for many people to sign up.
It was definitely a good experience but I do wish they made space for foot traffic because people couldn't stand at their preferred booths for the wave of people would surely carry them somewhere else. I guess it's a blessing in disguise so I could still save up money. And I got to take amazing photos with cool cosplayers, too! How about you? Have you experienced the O-Zine Summer Con at Trinoma?
