With Covid-19 nearing its third year since its first outbreak, the world has now progressed and adapted a new lifestyle to combat the virus. Despite this, another Covid-19 outbreak has hit China in the past month, resulting in mass lockdowns that lead to many disruptions among businesses and online services. Games were no exception to these disruptions, and one of the leading gaming brands that dominate the market now has also been struck by this outbreak: Genshin Impact.
Hoyoverse, the company that made the game has decided to hold off the contents of this popular game to later dates, resulting in delayed content that was expected to arrive at a consistent rate. This led to a major outburst from the Genshin Impact community, with many becoming vocal about the ‘recent inconsistencies’ of the Hoyoverse staff (With some even blaming them from past events like the anniversary fiasco). Fortunately, those who have come to hate this new change were but a small portion of the vast community, and many other players were keen to understand this sudden change of pace for the game, knowing well that the health of the employees were more of a priority than making revenue. This decision left the playerbase mostly satisfied with the actions of the company, alongside the decision of Hoyoverse to give out widely acceptable compensations within the game during the delay.
Even though the players were mostly satisfied, their hunger for content has starved their patience for weeks on end, and the wait for an official announcement about any updates seemed slim. But as of May 19, 2022, a sneak-peak for content in the future updates was dropped by the official Genshin Impact Facebook and Twitter pages, leaving the community rejoicing over the fresh news. And on the very next day, a livestream event has brought together even more hopes for the playerbase as the new content was officially announced for the next big update. Ranging from new gameplay, to new characters, and even unique events, it would seem that the community is at its phase where the dawning days of their long wait that felt like an eternity is finally coming to an end, and to many, it was most certainly worth the wait.
