After almost 2 years of online distance learning, the CIIT College of Arts and Technology announced the plans for the pilot implementation of limited face-to-face classes for quarter 4 in the recent students’ townhall via Zoom last January 31, 2022.

Mr. Sherwin O., CIIT President, opened the meeting with the presentation of CIIT’s COVID-19 vaccination data as of January 28, 2022, with the numbers: 1,174 students had their 1st dose, 1,145 had their 2nd dose, 42 waiting for schedule, and 60 undecided. As for the full-time faculty and admin, 73 of them got their 1st dose and 2nd dose, 3 waiting for schedule and 1 undecided. Meanwhile for the part-time faculty, 68 of them had their 1st dose, 66 had their second dose, 3 waiting for schedule, and 4 undecided.

Mr. Sherwin said in the townhall that CIIT aims to initiate a limited pilot partial F2F class set-up that can be done safely while the pandemic continues, and to provide a safe venue where students can physically interact with fellow students and friends for stronger bonds.

The school will implement a blended setup, wherein students will be either joining online, or physically in the classroom.

In this pilot partial F2F, students are not required to join and is purely voluntary, but those who wish to participate will have to go through an application and has to be pre-approved alongside submitting the requirements needed.

Moreover, pre-approved students have the option to still attend classes online.

The campus will only be allowing 90 maximum unique students per day, with 45 students in the AM and PM classes, having 15 maximum students per classroom.

8 classes will be conducted per day, 4 classes each in the morning and afternoon, with each class lasting 1.5 hours, same as the full online class setup.

Mr. O also explained the process flow as the CIIT pushes for the pilot F2F classes.

For the admin, CIIT will retrofit classrooms and campus for blended set-up, submit required documents to CHEDRO, and complete on-site inspection of the campus

As for the faculty, their participation will also be voluntary, then program heads will collate all the subjects with volunteer faculty.

Subjects and schedules will be then released and announced to pre-approved students.

Students then will have to go through an application, wait for their approval, and see if they have subjects they can enroll in.

Food services will be open, with students required to have their own water bottle and utensils, as food deliveries and going in-and-out of the building is not allowed.
