Eenie Meenie Mini Mo, who’s this new PPOP girl group on the go? It’s none other than the 7-member PPOP girl group YGIG!
The new Philippine-based talent company Show Biz Town (SBTown) launched its first-ever PPOP group as a product of the SBTalent Camp. Former producer of SB19 and now SBTown CEO Mr. Geong Seong Han, more popularly known as Tatang Robin, along with Ms. Adie Hong and Universal Records, introduced the 7-member girl group YGIG in a press conference last November 24.
YGIG is an abbreviation of “You Go, I Go” and is composed of JM, Vien, Darlene, Jewel, Hazelyn, Maeg, and Alexei. The girls underwent rigorous and extensive four-year training under the SBTalent Camp program. With the successes of SB19 and BINI, the septuplet female group is set to dominate the PPOP scene with their debut single ‘SHABA SHABA’, released last November 25, and the official music video followed on November 28.
The song ‘SHABA SHABA’ is a wordplay for “Siya ba?”. This is very reminiscent of the happy crush memories we had during high school. And as explained by the members, the song is also a love spell to cast or manifest for someone to like you back. SHABA SHABA is a perfect mix of cute and girl crush, complemented with a catchy rhythm and chorus.
Also, a well-known fact about the song is that the group contributed to it - the members were the ones who choreographed the song and collaborated in writing it. And surely, with these skills they honed over their four-year training, they will raise the banner of PPOP in the local and international scene.
