There once lived a dread, bearing your name
Loved by all, praised by many
A name deserving of awards and confetti
An exemplar to all, shining greatness wherever
Praised whenever, but broken forever.
A mask to hide tragedy and loss
Smiles to a crowd filled with curious faces
For they wonder the success behind the name
When you couldn’t ask yourself the same
For all you know, it found home in your arms
Living inside the void within you
Coated in lies, livid to the truth
Shining at your greatest, but it never became a mirror for you
And yet you still embrace it
All for a meager cost of losing oneself
For what is loss when you’ve already died
In the hearts of many where you’ve tried?
It offered you a long-awaited dream after all,
One that you can finally bask into
A chance to not be a nobody
And become someone albeit bathed in delusion.
Dancing callously for the spectacle of others
Confiding in lies, comforted by lies, always rolling the dice
And not a moment will this dread suffice
To fill the void in you, suffering in vyes
But once you don the mask
You catch a glimpse reality
Hanging the question, you have yet to answer:
“𝘑𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘺 𝘯𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘨𝘰?”
