2022 is the year of K-Pop group break-ups.
On February 2022, the K-Pop girl group called NMIXX debuted with 7 members: Jinni, Kyujin, Sullyoon, Bae, Jiwoo, Lily, and Haewon. With their visuals and overflowing talent, their debut was much anticipated by fans worldwide. They even won the MAMA Award for Favorite New Artist in November 2022.
Despite their success, the K-Pop world was shocked by the sudden news from JYP Entertainment. On December 9, 2022, they announced that NMIXX member Choi Yun-jin or Jinni had quit the group due to personal reasons. NMIXX will now continue as a sextet.
JYP Entertainment said,
“We ask that you give lots of encouragement to Jinni, who will be walking a new path, and we also ask that NSWER [NMIXX’s fans] give their warm support to the six members who will continue to grow and race towards their dreams.”
in their formal announcement.
Jinni has been training under JYP Entertainment for six years, and not even a year has passed since her debut. Her brief career and sudden departure from the group shook fans and non-fans.
As one of the most loved members, whatever her reason is, and even if she’s not part of NMIXX any longer, fans will surely be rooting for her success.
